Happy Monday everyone!
It is testing week for the Big Kids. What does that mean for the Little Kids? Well…..it means we share our restrooms in the classroom in the morning so all 4th graders in our hall can get ready for the test. We sharpen and share pencils, too. Then, the rest of the time….we are super-d-duper quiet in our room. We have two 4th grade classes right next door to us so it is very important that we are quiet. We also will not get ART class this week. Our lunch time is subject to when testing ends…..so please DO NOT plan on eating with your child until next week when testing is over. We are on sort of a “testing lock down” in the building to eliminate irregularities in the test taking process. So, no parents in the building past the office until after testing is over. Consequently, no Mystery Reader this week. My phone will be turned off and locked in the office daily until testing is over so if you need me you should email or call the office. Next week, we will be back to normal! 🙂 Thanks for your patience and understanding!
Art Basket items (2 per child, any art medium) are due tomorrow! Please send these in asap! Mrs. Hollyhand will be purchasing our basket and assembling it for us for the Spring Fling auction on May 16th. Thanks Mrs. Hollyhand!
We are learning about farm animals this week! We are super excited about comparing them to the zoo animals we have already learned about.
If you are interested in having your child work on reading and math skills this summer while playing “games” then check out the KidsCollege letter in the Rocket Books today. This site can be accessed by any computer with Internet access. Have fun playing and learning!
We are upgrading our Reading Street program this summer. The workbook pages will change and since I have extras of most units I will be sending those home for you to use this summer. The directions can be found at the bottom of each sheet. As a former RQES first grade teacher (for the past 15 years) let me STRONGLY encourage you to read, write and practice math for at least 10 minutes daily. It will make a world of difference. First Grade hits the ground running! Don’t get left behind!
I cannot believe we have 14 more school days…….tick tock……….tick tock…………. 🙁
Have a great week! Alicia
