Welcome PreKPals and Families-
Happy last week of the semester! We are so excited about our week in PreK this week. We will be sending our awesome parent gifts home this week, finishing up our Santa for a Day deliveries and getting ready for our Holiday Party and Sing a Long on Friday.
Here’s all the important things you need to know for this week!
This week you can send in the items for the holiday party any day. We will keep them safe until they are needed on Friday. Because Friday is an early release day, parents are not invited to the party (which will begin at 8:30) but ARE invited to the Sing a Long which will be in the RQES multipurpose room and will begin at 10 am. Please plan on meeting us there if you want to attend. We will be singing the Reindeer Pokey (wearing our handprint antler headbands). Your child does not have to dress in any specific way so wear anything you’d like! Grade levels are called to sing in random order so we aren’t sure when we will be singing, but you will enjoy hearing all the grade levels sing.
Here’s a link in case you want to practice at home!

After the performances, the students will be dismissed back to the classroom. PreK dismisses at 11:15 and the other grade levels will dismiss at 11:30, so please plan on exiting the building and meeting us outside the PreK doors as usual, as soon as the Sing a Long is over. For safety, please do not walk down the hallway to pick up your child. Exit the building and meet us at the PreK doors.
Because the PreKPals will be bringing home LOTS of goodies on Friday, we are asking that you please send their backpacks as usual. However, we will NOT be eating lunch in the cafeteria or the classroom on Friday. Sack lunches WILL be provided, but due to early dismissal, those will be sent home or to extended day to be enjoyed.
PLEASE send a message to let me know if your child will need a sack lunch on Friday. I have to turn in lunch numbers early this week. I will only get a sack lunch for your child if you let me know in advance.
Weekly Reminders
- Send Lunch money (in a labeled envelope: Child’s name/lunch money) or a lunch box (no items that need to be heated), labeled with your child’s name. Please put bento lunch kits inside a lunchbox for easier transport to the cafeteria.
- A water cup with a valve, already filled. Make sure your child can drink from it at home before coming to school, labeled with your child’s name. NO OPEN POUR CUPS.
- Your child’s nap mat.
- Your child’s backpack, and PREK BINDER.
- A bag with 4 snacks labeled with your child’s name. We will enjoy holiday party foods on Friday so no snack is needed for Friday.
- Please label everything with your child’s name! 😊
For our Heggerty Phonics this week, we are learning “Three Blind Mice”. We are sending a copy home for your child to enjoy with you. We are learning the letters Hh and Uu in literacy and in math we are identifying and comparing sets of objects.
We are so proud of the progress the PreKPals are making! Almost everyone knows all uppercase and lowercase letters in random order, they know their numbers 0-10 in random order and we are working on learning letter sounds! Ask your PreKPal to count for you! You can practice in two ways. They can count out loud and see how far they can go. An important skill for kindergarten is counting in an organized fashion. That means your PreKPal should count and touch eacg item only once as they count. Make a pile of coins or cheerios and have them count each one as they move it from one pile to the other.
The Lunch menu was sent on Dojo on Saturday. Please note that Friday has a menu change to sack lunches that must be preordered BEFORE Friday.

- A great resource for letters and sounds is the Letter Factory by Leap Frog. You can find them all on YouTube or in DVD’s. All of the Leap Frog videos are great and the songs stick in your head!
