Hello PreKPals and Families-
Happy LAST week of November. I am not sure how we go this far into the semester. But here we are! When we come back to school after the break it will be December! We will only have 14.5 days of school before the winter break! Can you believe that? We will start our Santa for a Day program when we come back on December 2. Look for detailed instructions for that coming home soon in the binder.
This week in Heggerty phonics we will review the past four weeks of Nursery Rhymes. We are encouraging you to do the same with your child at home. This is a perfect thing to do in the car. Start the rhyme and see if they can join in and help you finish it.
Wednesday of this week we will have a different lunch schedule due to First Grade’s Thanksgiving feast. We are asking that no one attend lunc on Wednesday unless you have a first grader. Thanks!
This week we will work on the letters and sounds for Gg and Ll. In math we will learn how to make 5 and all of the parts that make 5.
We LOVED the Balloon Parade! I hope your PrekPal had the best time! They worked so hard designing their balloons and we loved helping them bring their plans to life. We watched this video for inspiration!
Remember that the daily Reading Log is good for part of the 14 required parent involvement hours that you need to accrue by the end of the year. Some friends are reading a lot at home and some are not reading at all. It is never too late to start! A new reading log sheet will come home in December.
This week is the Turkey Bowl! Always a great time with our sister school Verner Elementary. We hope to see you and your family there! Tickets may be purchased on GoFan.
Don’t forget to turn in your Turkey Feather!
This week you will get 2 copies of the progress report for the first semester Please sign and return one copy and keep one copy for your records. Let me know if you would like to have a conference.
Jacket Reminder- UNLESS your child can put on and take off an over the head sweatshirt, we are asking you to PLEASE send them with a jacket that buttons or zips all the way up the front. With so many 4-5 year olds, it is hard for us to teach and take the sweatshirts off and put the sweatshirts on as many times a day as they want this done……times 13 PreKPals. We are teaching them the PreK Jacket Flip so they can be more independent. You can try this at home as well. This only works with an open front coat, jacket or sweater. They are SO PROUD when they can do it themselves!
PreK Jacket flip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73qom9IueV8 This is why we ask for jackets that zip or button. This technique is so easy and so empowering for our little ones!
Please remember to make sure anyone who is dropping off or picking up your PreKPal knows that they MUST park in the front lot and walk across the crosswalk. We have a lot of foot traffic coming across the hill by the flag pole, and walking/parking in the bus lane. The safety patrol officer will start issuing tickets and we want to make sure everyone is doing the right thing for the safety of our PreKPals.
Please remember that we are asking the PreKPals to NOT play superheroes at recess or PE.
Class Needs: envelopes of any shape or size. (Our students LOVE writing and drawing at the writing center and using envelopes. If you pay your bills online and are just tossing the return envelopes, we would love to have them!)
Reminders from Mrs. Jockisch-
