Corrected Derby Days!

Accidentally posted an old blog post. This is the correct one!! Sorry!

Hey PreKPals Families!

Sorry to be late to the blog. This weekend was slammed packed and I honestly just feel like I have had a minute to breathe. Whew! The next few weeks are going to FLY by and in just a second your little PreKPal is going to be a KinderFriend.

We are going to have fun and learn every minute of every day that we have left! Which, by the way, is only 18 ½ more days. What????  I know! The next two weeks are Dinosaur Weeks in PreK! We are going to let the PreKPals show us what they know about dinosaurs!

Thanks to all who attended the Fairy Garden/Dino Garden class with us last week! We had a great time in a beautiful setting! It was so much fun!

On Friday, we are going to have the PreKPals Kentucky Derby!! All your PreKPal needs to do is wear a hat of any kind. Ball cap, bonnet, flowered hat, beach hat, fancy hat, plain hat, golf visor…..just wear a hat! The ponies are ready and raring to go! (Sorry mommies……no mint juleps will be served! 😊 )

Lots of PreKPals are now getting a tray in the cafeteria. Yay! Please remember to send a snack on the days that your child is getting a tray. We have a few extra snacks in the room, but lately we have had LOTS of friends “forgetting” their snack at home. Please continue to send snack daily or send 5 in a bag on Monday morning and they can choose one per day.

Reminder! We’ve had several questions about graduation. It is a RQES tradition that we do not “graduate” from PreK or Kinder. In PreK we have a PreK celebration and this will occur on the SAME DAY as Kindergarten Breakfast. That way, parents only have to take off one day, and your kiddos only have to dress up for one day! (Aren’t we smart?) May 16 is the day for Kinder Breakfast and the moving up celebration. You will attend breakfast with your child, then come back to RQES at 12:30 for our celebration. Afterward, you may check your child out if you’d like, so that you do not have to make a third trip to campus that day. Your child is welcome to stay for nap after the celebration if you would like. Students may wear whatever mommies would like for them to wear. There is no dress code.

Please let me know if you are NOT coming to the kinder breakfast, so that I can make arrangements for your child to attend with another adult.

You will NOT need to sign up for a time for Kinder screening because our kinder teachers will do that for RQES PreKPals during the school day, before school is out for the summer.

Fieldtrip Week!

Hey PreKPals Families!

Happy Easter to our families that celebrate! I hope your long weekend with family and friends was awesome. This is another quick busy week in PreK! Thursday, we have our awesome fieldtrip to make fairy and dinosaur gardens. Friday, CHOM comes to see us at Rock Quarry and we will learn more about bugs!! We only have about 5 more Mondays together! Can you even believe that? This year has flown by!!

We had a great time at Field Day last week! Everyone was super tired because they worked and played super hard! I am trying to load the photos and videos to ClassDojo but have been running into some technical issues. Stay tuned! They are coming!

Gather up your 5 snacks, backpack, Library book, water cup, jacket and rest mat (if you took it home) for school tomorrow.

A Short…… But Busy Week

Hey PreKPals Families!

We are learning all about transportation this week in PreK!  We are going to paint with cars, make name trains, build some puzzles, make some towns, sort and count and all kinds of fun stuff! We can’t wait!

Don’t forget that Friday is a NO SCHOOL DAY! We will be sending nap mats home on Thursday afternoon so you can get them washed over the long weekend.

Your child is bringing home a Surprise Egg and a clue sheet. Make sure you tell them NOT to tell the item in their egg before we read the clues! Someone always tells! LOL! These eggs are due on Thursday. We will not have an Egg Hunt this year because Thursday is International Day and Field Day. It is going to be super crazy busy!! We will have field day games in the morning and tour the countries for International Day in the afternoon. Thursday lunch will likely be at a different time so check with the office if you are planning to come eat with your child that day. PreK will do a modified schedule of both of these activities (meaning, when they are tired, we go in! 😊 )

Thursday, make sure your child wears tennis shoes and brings a water bottle for field day!

Gather up your 5 snacks, backpack, Library book, water cup, jacket and rest mat (if you took it home) for school tomorrow. (If I sent a dojo message to you about snacks then your child has a cubby full of “groceries” and doesn’t need anything this week!)

All About Bugs!

Hey PreKPals Families!

We are going buggy and learning all about insects this week in PreK!  We have some fun insects and spiders for the light table, a brand-new insect hunt for the sand and water table, and tons of insect themed centers to learn with this week! We are waiting on our caterpillars to arrive! They will come in the mail and we can watch them metamorphosize into painted lady butterflies! This is always a fun and exciting time in PreK! We cannot wait to share it with the PreKPals!

Gather up your 5 snacks, backpack, Library book, water cup, jacket and rest mat (if you took it home) for school tomorrow. Your Bear Binder is full of forms! Kindergarten registration, bus transportation forms, field day volunteer forms, Family Engagement forms…..all kinds of things! Be sure to get those in asap. We are still missing 2 fieldtrip forms.

Just a reminder- You have a green half note with the Kindergarten registration information on it. Since your child is already a RQES student they will be considered a “returning” TCS student and you will follow the infosnap directions. This will get you into the system no matter which TCS school you will attend for Kindergarten. I cannot believe we are already talking about Kindergarten!!

We’ve had several questions about graduation. It is a RQES tradition that we do not “graduate” from PreK or Kinder. This week in PreK, Mrs. Minifield and I are going to be in Montgomery for a Conscious Discipline training on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are leaving the PreKPals in the capible hands of two retired TCS teachers. Please talk with your child about having good manners while we are at our “boring meeting”. (Last week was a little “full-moon-ish” so we are a bit concerned about both being out at the same time! Thanks for your help!

NEW DATES…….

18: International Day/Field Day at RQES

19: NO SCHOOL

24: Fieldtrip to Johnson’s Nursery to make Fairy Gardens or Dinosaur Gardens. Parents are welcome to attend! We will have some space on the buses and we will need some parents to drive and carry the fairy/dino gardens back for us. We are super excited about this event. If you want to make a garden yourself, the cost is $10 and you will pay at the door. Let me know if you want to make a garden and which kind you’d like by April 18 so we can make sure they have the items needed. If you do not want to make a garden, the trip is free for you.
