Welcome PreKPals and Families-

This will be a super busy but short week in PreK. No school on Monday. We hope you enjoy time with your families! Tuesday, we will go to the library with Mrs. Hamilton and check out books! Wednesday, we will have our health screening. Thursday will be our first music lesson with Mr. Patrick! During this week, we will be learning more about our bodies! How we move, how our bodies help us, how we grow and learn! We have some fun small group lessons and great center time activities planned as well. Next week, we will learn about the 5 Senses! So much fun and learning in PreK!

We have 2 friends who haven’t turned in their Family Tree Circle. We sent a new circle home last week. Please return it on Tuesday so your child can have their family represented on our tree. The students love looking at everyone’s circles!

Weekly Reminders-

• Sign and return the permission slip for the Barnyard fieldtrip.
• Send Lunch money (in a labeled envelope: Child’s name/lunch money) or a lunch box (no items that need to be heated), labeled with your child’s name. Please put bento lunch kits inside a lunchbox for easier transport to the cafeteria.
• A water cup with a valve, already filled. Make sure your child can drink from it at home before coming to school, labeled with your child’s name.
• Your child’s nap mat, labeled with your child’s name.
• Your child’s backpack, and PREK BINDER.
• A bag with 5 snacks labeled with your child’s name. (You will send 5 snacks weekly each Monday) If your child’s snack requires a spoon, please send one. Candy is not allowed.
• Please label everything with your child’s name! 😊

Our Nursery Rhyme for the week is Old Mother Hubbard. A copy is coming home for you to enjoy with your child. This week in science, we are going to be looking at x-rays on our light table, and making a pretend X-ray with Qtips. In math, we will still be counting to 10 and matching numbers to quantities 0-10. In literacy, we are working on recognizing the letters in our names and our friends’ names and all the uppercase letters.

Beginning this week there will only be one PreK teacher at the PreK doors. The rest of the teachers will be helping everyone settle in. Morning drop off is at the PreK doors beginning at 7:30. Children arriving after 7:55 am will need to go to the front office to check in. You are not allowed to park in the driveway. This is the bus lane and you will be ticketed! Please make sure you are using the crosswalk and not crossing the grassy hill or walking in the bus lane to get to the PreK doors.

Dismissal is promptly at 2:20 at the PreK doors. You will need to arrive early because the carpool traffic backs up. Do NOT get in the carpool line.

We have several friends from our 3 PreK classes that go to Extended Day with PARA. If you need Extended Day services, you can go to the Phelps Center to fill out the form and pay the fees. Extended Day picks up at 2:20 at RQES and ends at 5:45 at the Phelps Center.

As a reminder- I just realized that ClassDojo is pushing out ads to try to get you to purchase a subscription. I am so sorry. This is annoying and I am trying to find a way around this. You NEVER have to purchase a subscription to dojo and your child’s pictures will never go away because I own them. 😊 Have no fear. You will be able to access your child’s pictures and classroom content until the August that they go into FIRST GRADE (because that is when I will archive their class). So please don’t worry and hang in there with us. I am so sorry about the ads!!!
