Welcome PreKPals and Families-
Sorry this is late (or early!). We had a busy weekend and I just ran out of time. For the next two weeks we are learning about Dinosaurs! This is always a favorite unit for the PreKPals! We have some fun literacy, math and science activities planned and we have turned the Home Living Center into a dinosaur dig! We even have dinosaur hats and tails! So Much Fun!!
Last Friday, the PreKPals in all three classes enjoyed a fun science experiment together where we used all of our senses to examine and enjoy popcorn! This week, we will be erupting a volcano!!
Weekly Reminders-
- Sign and return the permission slip for the Barnyard fieldtrip!
- Send Lunch money (in a labeled envelope: Child’s name/lunch money) or a lunch box (no items that need to be heated), labeled with your child’s name. Please put bento lunch kits inside a lunchbox for easier transport to the cafeteria.
- A water cup with a valve, already filled. Make sure your child can drink from it at home before coming to school, labeled with your child’s name. NO OPEN POUR CUPS.
- Your child’s nap mat, labeled with your child’s name.
- Your child’s backpack, and PREK BINDER.
- A bag with 5 snacks labeled with your child’s name. I sent a Dojo message on Friday. Some friends do not need snacks. Check the list to make sure. If your child’s name is not listed – they will need snacks!
- Please label everything with your child’s name! 😊
I will send the lunch menu for this week on dojo.
For our Heggerty Phonics this week, we are doing The Three Little Kittens We have sent a copy home for you to enjoy with your child. In math, we will still be counting to 10 and matching numbers to quantities 0-10. In literacy, we are working on recognizing the letters in our names and our friends’ names and all the uppercase letters and lowercase letters.
We are not allowed to celebrate birthdays at school with food items per Mrs. Jockisch. We do celebrate our birthday friends in class and we will also celebrate our summer birthdays in May with a “pretend birthday” so that everyone gets to participate! We will post the birthday photos at the end of each month on Dojo.
Please remember that I need a note from you (dojo message is fine) or a doctor’s note each time your child is absent. One of the things teachers must do is fill out a weekly attendance report and I have to code a reason for each absence. Thank you for helping me complete this task by sending a note or a doctor’s excuse.
Dismissal is promptly at 2:20 at the PreK doors. You will need to arrive early because the carpool traffic backs up. Do NOT get in the carpool line.
We have several friends from our 3 PreK classes that go to Extended Day with PARA. If you need Extended Day services, you can go to the Phelps Center to fill out the form and pay the fees. Extended Day picks up at 2:20 at RQES and ends at 5:45 at the Phelps Center. Extended Day is also available for early morning drop off. I am unsure of how this works because it is a new service offered to our families.
